Possible Nissan Dragday hosted by NZPCC

Just a quick post to gauge interest on having a joint dragday at Meremere with the Primera Car Club.

Having been a member of NZPCC for about 7 years, we have held a couple of these events and invite has normally gone out to SDU with limited interest.

I have only today placed a post on the NZPCC website asking if they plan to hold one. It seems there is interest to do one, but as yet, no dates have been set.

I think from memory they normally need about 40 cars just to break even due to track hireage fees and ambulance etc, so the more numbers, the better.

I personally would be suggesting sometime in April while the weather isn't too cold, it's normally still reasonably dry too, and most of the big meets are over by then judging by their calendar.

As said, no dates have been set, just gauging interest.

Yep if my car is going and in one piece I'd be keen. Never done a 1/4 mile and not looking to break any records but keen to give it a go.

I traded my Primera about 5 weeks ago for a V35 350GT Skyline and really loving it, except it's a lot thirstier on gas around town.

I guess it's the price to pay for 200KW.
We are tossing around an April saturday, date yet to be determined.

I'm suggesting either April 10th or 24th so we don't clash with the Hamilton 400

I'd be interested to see what the new motor could do. Any idea what the fee would be??? I haven't put the car down the strip before, just around the track.

Perhaps we should look at hosting our own. Things seem to be moving at snails pace across at NZPCC so I don't think it will be anytime soon.

Worst comes to worst, Night Speed Dragwars are on at Meremere on February 19th (friday) anyways

We have dissucsed Hosting our own Drag day and sad to say most people are just talk they say they are keen and will show up but once the track is hired and date is set people dont show up, it takes alot of cars to make a drag day work as it costs alot to hire, its not just the track you need to hire St johns and track workers and such, thats why doing it with anohter club helps build numbers and can add a bit of a comp to the mix too, value for money and time side of things the night speeds are perfect

I agree. If we could spread the costs/risks with another club, that would make perfect sense.

Hytech Engines were planning on organising/hosting a drag day at Meremere and the track isn't available until May. If you organise a day we would be keen to bring down 2 GTR's and an Evo.

When you say GTR, are you talking new actual GTR's or R32/33/34??

From what Hytech was saying sounds like track is quite heavily booked. If NZPCC can make a booking and get a price you could start taking deposits to get this underway!!??
