I do have a company that took great interest in the idea of backing a company who would/could import and legalize Skylines, now I just need to find out what company is the closest to becoming a Motorex competitor.

All I know is that there needs to be at least two companys involved! Competition is good for consumers, plus they need to do the OBD II system for the BNR's!

Maybe once the R35 is introduced and it is not as good as the last 3 iterations it will get someone motivated to bring these things in!

Competition is most certainly good for consumers, and maybe once a second company springs out, more will follow. Everyone wins that way, except for Motorex, who, as it appears to me, no one cares much for anyways.

I had a huge post typed up, but it didn't take....

the jist of what I wanted to say is this:

Our plight is that we have a project but not enough funding. What's worse, we don't have a diverse enough audience to be able to find someone, or some business willing to front the cash. What I suggest is this.

Get an article in Sport Compact Car, or some magazine, have them do a piece on Sean, and "The Skyline Project." If we're able to reach people out there, we might get some in-pouring of donations, or perhaps even a sponsor.

Second Idea: Fund-raising. If John Kerry can raise 7 Million dollars in just three weeks, we can as well. If the Republican Party can throw a dinner with 25K a plate...we can't because we don't know anyone who can cook that good. We can have a raffle like thing, with (donated) prizes from companies who would profit from the skyline being legal in the US; the grand prize being a chance to own the first RB legalized Skyline.

All of this just takes footwork, and someone willing to organize it. I, unfortuneately live in the middle of Missouri, and honestly, don't know much about cars, other than having an unrequited love affair with them. This could be successful, depending on how much money is needed for testing and whatnot.

the only thing that I see could be the danger is this: people are less willing to invest into a company that is untried...they're afraid of a scam; and well they should be. If someone, whom people trust, would sign on, (like Scott Baio) people would be less hesitant to invest in said company.

Idea Three: We could sell candy bars like I did for my Little League team back in the day...

Or what we could do, is get me all the information and let me present it to the company that asked me for all the information, so they know who they are backing, and what kind of profit they are looking at

How do you guys feel about this?

Any word on yours?

Im almost to the point where Im just about to say forget it and get an Evo 8 instead.

the exhaust motorex put on the cars for testing failed on all the cars he has now. the company doing the epa work has to retest without any converter and find something that will work. I thin this will be the first real legal batch of cars motorex has put out since 99-00. It looks to me like good ol motorex has paid off the epa in the past.

I saw something interesting last night. Went to Irwindale - local 1/8th mile track with Nicks R32. I wanted to run it a few times , see how it was going... still not running well.

Anyway - turns out I wasnt the only Skyline there. A white R33 and a black R34 showed up.

Interesting part was these guys "just " picked up their cars.

Neither of them had substitute VIN's on them. The R33 had a Motorex paperplate on it , the R34 had a 34607 Motorex dealer plate on it.

People that are waiting on cars might want to call up Motorex and ask them whats going on with your cars. These two cars are new cars. Not ones that have been here.

I have pictures , and at least once chassis code....

WTF.

What are you talking about ? This makes no sense. The exhaust Motorex and then "he " ? Whos he ?

Test without and converter ? Whats a converter ?

Which company is doing the testing ?

Since I was there ?

You dont pay off the EPA. The EPA never even directly looks at cars.

The cars get tested at an Emissions testing lab. I have tuned cars on the dyno for the FTP test.

The big problem on the GTR/RB is cold start. Once it gets up to temperature the catalytic converters start to work and the bag 2 - bag3 is no problem.

The bag 1 is the issue.

If it were something as simple as a smog test.... I have gotten Nicks R32 with single turbo 1000cc injectors , and cams to pass an equivalent of a smog test 2 years now during USCC. Smog is nothing. Thats with a single Nissan cat . Idle and 2500 rpms.

Not a problem.

someone came out from motorex to put on the catalytic converters. they then tried to test them and they failed. I don't know anything about testing a car for epa so when they say stuff that might be an important fact about the test, I have no I dea what they are talking about. I program voice/ip switches and do fitness modeling. I only do body and interior work on cars. My cousin is the nissan specialist and he works on my cars.

Grey car is testing the cars now. they tested 4 last week and said the tests went bad and Motorex is no help. They were supposed to supply the catalytic converters for the cars, but they gave the wrong ones.

The rest, I don't understand.

sorry to be unclear with the facts.

BTW,, do you have any front ends for an r33gtr? the shipping company broke it and won't fix it. factory or aftermarket.

Allright then I am really stumped! How can there be a NEW R34 out on the streets legally? Every time I ask the answer is NO NO NO! But now there is one running the streets??? Did you get the info on the cars or the names of the drivers? How about asking them to jump online here (or anywhere for that matter) and fess up the details! It would be interesting to hear the story of the cars, and the legalization process! I am especially interested in the R34.

Here we go guys, the **** soup is getting stirred again!!!!

Sean said that they didn't have substitute VINs on the cars, notice how he said one of them was on dealer plates. I think what he's trying to say is if either one of these are yours and you just ordered them then someone took your car to the drag strip. If someone saw them dragging my car right after it was shipped over here I would be pissed off. I don't have any doubt in my mind that they probably did the same thing with my car. Just goes to show you the good business practices that Motorex has.

No the guys driving them were the owners. Not people from Motorex.

The thing that was interesting is lots of people waiting for cars . These guys get cars that have obviously come in very recently. And one of them is an R34 ...

So WTF? Can Motorex legalize an R34 or not? Could they have let the guy out on a day pass using their plate? Please tell me you have more info and are for some reason with-holding it! I would have asked to see insurance and registration personally!!!!!

Lets get the pics up soon Sean...please!!!!

Get the guy on here! We need info!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I spoke to Hiro about the R34 but it's a special circumstance. It's one of his friends and he's a citizen of japan so they can legally bring a vehicle over for temporary use which I believe is a year. So the car wasn't ever federalized.

Well, that clears that up! So the answer is still NO on legalizing R34's...

Thanks for the info hisoka!!!!

The guy was Chinese. Not Japanese.

How do I know ? When Victor was looking at the car - and the hood was open - they said in Chinese to close the hood.....

Nice to know some multi lingual people.
